The curtain came down on the 2025 Intelligent Money British GT Championship in dramatic fashion at Donington Park, as Beechdean AMR secured the Silver-Am title after a tense and rain-patched season finale.

The #97 Aston Martin Vantage GT3, piloted Tom Wood and team owner Andrew Howard faced tricky conditions throughout the two-hour contest. With the pair having their best qualifying of the season in P5 overall, the Beechdean AMR crew just had to finish the race to secure their first British GT Silver Am championship.

Howard took the start, threading the Vantage through into P4 overall. Chaos was upon him as the fight for the podium in front ended in a spin, Howard narrowly avoiding them picking up slight damage. With the rain starting to fall and grip virtually non-existent, his experience proved invaluable in keeping the car on track and in contention. Despite several rivals being caught out with excursions into the gravel, Howard maintained a calm and measured stint, handing over the car solidly inside the Silver-Am lead fight.

When Tom climbed aboard for the second half, the challenge only intensified. The rain showed no sign of easing, forcing the 23 year old to wrestle the car around Donington in conditions that pushed drivers and machinery to the absolute limit. With slick tyres skimming over standing water, every lap was a test of precision and bravery.

Tom delivered an inspired performance, managing the balance between outright pace and survival. The #97 ran faultlessly to the flag, crossing the line to seal not only a strong result in the finale but, crucially, the British GT Silver-Am Championship crown for Beechdean AMR.

Team Principal and driver Andrew Howard reflected afterwards:

“That was without doubt the trickiest race I’ve ever driven in this season. The grip levels were non-existent on slicks in that much rain, but we kept our heads and stuck to the plan. Tom did a phenomenal job to bring it home – it was a proper team effort, and to end the season as champions is just fantastic.”

For Tom Wood, it was the perfect end to his first season with Beechdean AMR:

“That was the hardest stint I’ve ever done in a GT3 car. Every lap felt like a qualifying lap just to keep it on the road. Huge credit to the team and to Andrew – winning the title together in conditions like that makes it even more special.”

With the title secured, it has been Tom's long awaited first Championship in cars.
